We are Christians seeking to serve those who are homeless, vulnerable and struggling in our area.
We run a Night Shelter every Friday night from 9pm – 8am at St Mary’s Church Hall, Cheney Manor Rd, Swindon SN2 2PF
At the Shelter we offer a hot meal, a chance to shower and wash clothes and a bed for the night. There’s an opportunity to relax, chat, receive advice about help and support in the week and hear God’s word.
We are working closely with the other services in Swindon to provide signposting and support for our guests throughout the week.
We also work with local supermarkets and other businesses in Swindon, to collect and distribute Charitable Surplus to those who need and can use it.
Swindon Night Shelter have secured the lease of the former Riverside Centre on Queens Drive for 3 years. We are planning to move part of our existing Day Centre and Mentoring provision to this new location. We have been in discussion with Swindon Borough Council and other services on how to provide a better service to our guests and those in the cycle of homelessness in Swindon. This is the beginning of the journey, as with other relevant bodies and local organisations we look to ensure that we give the very best care we can to those we serve.
Our ultimate aim is to share God's love and provision in a practical way so that nobody in Swindon is rough sleeping who doesn't want to be. This is going to help towards that aim.
We need your help to make this possible and we would appeal to the public for practical items, as we need beds, furniture, volunteers and financial support via our Swindon Night Shelter Just Giving page as this is a huge undertaking financially, but it needs to happen and we have faith that it will, we need your support in any way you can.
To get involved or find out more about us and the support we offer please call us on 07586 420011 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Swindon Borough Council will run the Temporary Winter Housing Project from this location, see what they have to say on the link below:
If your brother becomes poor and cannot maintain himself with you, you shall support him as though he were a stranger and a sojourner, and he shall live with you. Take no interest from him or profit, but fear your God, that your brother may live beside you.
